The role of the computer in our lives is currently growing from day to day. It can be explained by the fact that computers help people to do their work much more easily and quickly. Computers can be characterised, as very comfortable, reliable and accurate. The biggest advantage is the price of computers, they are quite cheap. They give people very quick and quality information, so in such a way people don’t have to spend their time, turning leaves of dozens of books. Computers are easy to use, so you don’t have to be a genius to be able to work on it. And even if it is hard for you to learn it, you can buy some videos and books that will help you to do it.

In today’s world, computers are used nearly in all branches of industry. Even in that one that are dangerous and harmful to human health. Scientists can’t imagine space research without using computers. Today computers can diagnose very severe illnesses and help to carry out operations.

Using a computer you can search something on the internet. It has many advantages. You can exchange information electronically. The Internet users can enjoy online media and they can help other people to solve their problems. It expands our knowledge and stimulates our curiosity. Using the internet, you can meet different and interesting people. The internet also informs us about new trends. It provides us the possibility to talk with our friends online. The Internet helps us to use less television and watch only those films, which we want.

The computers have some disadvantages. Computer viruses are very dangerous. Such computer viruses can delete all files that are in your computer.

But in my opinion, computers are very useful and necessary in our lives. Despite some disadvantages, I think that a computer is the very important machine. I am sure that the computers have a great influence on our lives.

Topic INTERNET in our life. Устная тема INTERNET.

For centuries people had been living without any great inventions. We can compare the everyday people’s life of the 11th and the 13th centuries and we’ll see it was very similar. But can we say the same about the 19th and the 21st centuries? Certainly, not. Nowadays science and technology are developing so fast that sometimes you can’t «chase» the progress.

In the 30’s the radio was one of the most popular means of spending your leisure time. Then television was invented and the radio became less popular. Today TV has changed a lot since its invention and it’s still popular but it has a serious competitor. It is the Internet. I can’t say exactly what is more popular today – television or the Net. But in my opinion, TV will vanish in 10—20 years and the Internet or even something more modern will become the main source of information and entertainment.

The internet or TV?

Both the Internet and television are the forms of Mass Media that’s why they have some similar features. First of all, they keep people informed. It means that we can get to know about the latest world news due to them, find educational information, articles connected with your hobbies and the like. Secondly, both television and the Net gather big audiences so people can find new topics to discuss. Moreover, it gives a wonderful opportunity to communicate with other people. Certainly, it’s not a direct communication and the Internet and TV can’t change real friends but they just give extra-chances to active people.

TV and the Net are similar in the way they give us information. TV-sets and computers have colorful screens and special sound appliances. Here I’d like to say that one of their disadvantages is a bad influence on health because users are glued to these screens. So we can say the way of giving us information isn’t very convenient and healthy.

However TV and the Web differ very much. The main advantage of the Internet which I appreciate very much is that you don’t depend on somebody or something. There’s no schedule! You just start up your computer and begin surfing the Internet looking for whatever you want. I consider that if you want to know the latest news it’s better to log on the Net. There you’ll choose the topic and read or watch not one but lots of articles on it. Isn’t it comfortable? And you’re not told about crimes, crashes, violence every time (compare with TV news!).

On the Internet you can find not only small news items but big articles on different subjects and even books. To my mind, articles are very useful: they play a big educational role. What about virtual books? Well, I’d rather read paper books. For me reading good books associates with pleasant moments, such as sitting in the armchair, drinking tea and dreaming. Can reading from the screen be so nice? I think, no. Besides, it causes heavy eyestrain and backache.

Nowadays people search for different sorts of music, videos, films in the Web. So do I.

I prefer the Internet to TV because I can find there my favorite music whenever I want. Fortunately, the Internet in our country is quite good, the speed is fast and it’s possible to watch, for instance, a long film there.

Advantages and disadvantages of the Internet.

As anything, the Web has two sides: bad and good. We’ve already talked about a good side. What about its disadvantages? The main problem connected with the Internet is net obsession. It can be compared with TV addiction but I think Internet addiction is more widespread and more destructive. Either adults or children can’t live without the Web. They lose interest in their hobbies, spend their free time in front of the screen. Then they forget about their friends. People destroy their health (some cases were very hazardous: problems were much more serious than bad eyesight). When these people get fired they lose the link between the real and the virtual world. Unfortunately, some people become insane.

Nowadays the Internet addiction is one of the most principal problems. And it’s hard to solve it because the life without Internet is really impossible today.

There are other disadvantages of the Net: a big hourly or monthly fee, diverse computer viruses and harmful programs, which can rob you.

I am a frequent Internet user but I’m not addicted to it. I log on the Web about two times a week. First of all I check my e-mail (I have some pen pals), then I go to my favorite sites (various forums, music sites, sites with diaries). From time to time, I search for articles on school topics. And, finally, sometimes I read news and download music.

Taking everything in account, I’d like to say that every invention usually has its lovers and enemies. We can blame the Web a lot, discuss it every time, but still log on to read the weather forecast or to send a letter to Australia by e-mail. And no one can deny the great role of it. So, if people control themselves everything will be OK.

Computer is an electronic device that can receive a set of instructions called program and then carry them out. The modern world of high technology could not be possible without computers. Different types and sizes of computers find uses throughout our society. They are used for storage and handling data, secret governmental files, information about banking transactions and so on. Computers have opened a new era in manufacturing and they have enhanced modern communication systems. They are essential tools in almost every field of research, from constructing models of the universe to producing tomorrow’s weather reports. Using different databases and computer networks makes available a great variety of information sources.

Computers in our lives

Some scientists say that without computers it would be difficult to live in the 21st century. Today they are running our factories, planning our cities, teaching our children and forecasting our future. The computer solves in seconds the problems that a generation of mathematicians would need months or years to solve without its help. The degree to which computers take over human functions may frighten some people and astonish others. If we are to believe some forecasts, computers, like the telephone or electricity, may become a common everyday thing used by almost everybody. They can even enter our home life. Computers help to make a person’s shopping list, remind someone of important appointments and anniversaries and answer the telephone. It’s often heard that the increasing flood of information will be one of the problems of the 21st century but a computer may help solve it too. In a computerized library of the future request for information will be answered instantly and as fully as the user wants.

Conclusion

Summing up, I should say that it’s hard to enumerate all the uses the computer may be put to, that is why they are extremely important.

Тема урока, который представлен на конкурс “Компьютеры: за или против?” была
выбрана мною не случайно. Исходя из опросов обучающихся, эта тема не менее
интересна для них. Компьютеры давно и надежно вошли в нашу жизнь, и мы уже не
представляем себя без них, но мы, взрослые люди, прекрасно осознаем, что наряду
с целым рядом “+”, компьютеры имеют и массу “-”.

Между тем общеизвестно, что современные подростки проводят почти все
свободное время перед экраном компьютера. Как быть? Запретить использовать их
детям невозможно. Значит нужно находить способы уменьшить их отрицательное
влияние на социальное и физическое здоровье наших детей.

На уроке, который представлен вашему вниманию, мы с учениками будем выяснять,
каковы преимущества и недостатки компьютера, и что нужно сделать, чтобы, не
навредив себе, получить нужный результат. В качестве материалов будут
использованы тексты для чтения и аудирования, а также компьютерная презентация.
В ходе урока обучающимся необходимо будет не только проанализировать услышанную,
прочитанную и уведенную информацию, но и сделать выводы, используя имеющиеся у
них знания и опыт.

Все задания, выполняемые обучающимися в ходе данного урока носят
коммуникативный характер. Они способствуют включению обучающихся в активное
обсуждение проблемы, обмен мнениями по проблеме и нахождению правильного
решения. Разнообразные формы работы включают в себя парную, групповую и
фронтальную.

Задания усложняются по мере перехода от одного этапа урока к другому и
требуют от обучающихся активизации речемыслительной деятельности. Анализ и
синтез ранее изученных и полученных в ходе занятия знаний позволяет обучающимся
успешно справиться с поставленной задачей. Важным и интересным является тот
факт, что роль учителя в ходе занятия не заметна. Он является лишь менеджером
процесса самостоятельного получения знаний обучающимися.

В качестве организационного принципа данного урока выступает принцип
совместной деятельности, в основе которого лежит групповой метод обучения с
элементами дискуссии и обсуждения. Урок спланирован с использованием
коммуникативного и личностно-ориентированного подхода к обучению, а также
современных методов и приемов. В ходе урока будут использованы элементы таких
инновационных образовательных технологий, как технология сотрудничества,
критического мышления, модерации.

Кроме всего вышеперечисленного важно отметить ещё и тот факт, что материал
данного занятие не дублирует материал учебника. В ходе урока обучающиеся
прибегают к дополнительному источнику знаний – тексту, взятому из Интернета и
адаптированному для данного школьного возраста. Благодаря принципу проблемности,
реализованному на уроке, происходит сближение процесса обучения с процессами
исследования и творчества. Ученики на таком уроке открывают знания, а не
получают их в готовом виде.

свою деятельность (учебную, информационную, социальную) на основе знаний и
представлений о влиянии компьютера на социальное и физическое здоровье
человека;

создать условия для развития умения сотрудничать
и взаимодействовать в группе для достижения общих целей;

способствовать развитию умения чтения и аудирования
с детальным пониманием для решения коммуникативных задач.

Возраст обучающихся: 14 лет.

Оборудование: мультимедийная доска, листы с заданиями для работы в
группах, маркеры.

1. Организационный момент. Приветствие обучающихся, проверка
готовности к уроку, выяснение эмоционального настроя учащихся. Введение в тему
урока.

Nowadays there are a lot of different devices and gadgets that make our life
easier and more comfortable. We can’t imagine our life without them, but
sometimes they do us not only good. Today at the lesson we are going to talk
about one of such devices and find out how to use it and not to do harm to
ourselves.

2. Основная часть.

2.1 Обучающимся предлагается посмотреть на список электронных устройств и
выбрать одно, которое они считают наиболее важным и необходимым. Выбор нужно
объяснить.

2.2 В ходе выбора становится очевидным, что большинство обучающихся
выбрали компьютер. Учитель выясняет, знают ли учащиеся когда и как появились

прослушать диалог и выполнить задание Верно/Неверно.

ещё сферах жизнедеятельности человека кроме образования и развлечения

amusement.But a computer can be used for many other different purposes.

3. Учитель говорит о том, что помимо огромной пользы компьютер может
наносить вред. Обучающимся предлагается прочитать текст и, работая в группах,
найти плюсы и минусы компьютера. Первая группа находит плюсы, а вторая – минусы.
Представитель от каждой группы знакомит остальных обучающихся с находками его
группы.

Computers help us in many cases but on the other hand they can do us much
harm. Work in your groups and find out what is good about using a computer and
what is bad. Read the text and make a list of pros and cons according to your
group. Exchange your group ideas. The first group is for computers, the second
is against it.

4. После обмена мнениями обучающимся предлагается поработать всем вместе
и найти способы снижения вредного влияния компьютера на здоровье человека.
Сформулированные идеи представить в виде постера-памятки.

Now you know that computers have many positive points as well as some
negative ones. Let’s work all together and find ways to reduce the harmful
effect of the computer on our health. Discuss it in one group and present your
ideas.

5. Заключительная часть.

Учитель просит обучающихся сформулировать вывод, к которому они пришли в ходе
работы над материалом урока.

What can you say in conclusion? Should we stop using computers?

Of course, not! But we should be very careful and take into account all
precautions above mentioned.
